Majuli, the world’s largest river island, is all set to turn into a musical pilgrimage once again — but this year, with deeper emotion and meaning. The Majuli Music Festival 2025, now scheduled for 19th–21st December, will pay a heartfelt tribute to Zubeen Garg, the legendary artist whose voice defined generations and gave Assamese music its contemporary soul.

The Island That Breathes Music

Set amidst the tranquil currents of the Brahmaputra, Majuli isn’t just a venue — it’s a living, breathing story of art, faith, and resilience. Each year, the Majuli Music Festival transforms this island into a vibrant stage where indie rhythm meets Assamese tradition.

The Line-Up: Indie Spirit Meets Legacy

The 2025 edition promises a power-packed mix of voices from across the Northeast and beyond. Leading the lineup are Prashant Ezekiel Rai and Tanmoy Saikia, both known for blending rock, folk, and soul into immersive performances. Alongside them, the festival will showcase emerging indie artists, fusion acts, and heartfelt tributes to Zubeen Garg’s timeless melodies.

Expect live reinterpretations, acoustic renditions, and collaborative performances that reimagine Zubeen’s music for a new generation.

Experience Beyond the Stage

Over three days, Majuli will pulsate with more than music. Festivalgoers can explore traditional satras, witness mask-making workshops, savour tribal cuisine and rice beer, and participate in music-and-river clean-up drives — echoing the festival’s deep eco-conscious ethos.

This year’s décor, installations, and visual art zones will carry motifs inspired by Zubeen’s songs — from his love for nature to his fierce creative freedom.

Music Meets Sustainability

As always, Majuli Music Festival continues its commitment to sustainability and community. The 2025 edition will feature bamboo stages, solar-powered setups, and eco-camping zones — designed in partnership with local artisans. The event doubles as an economic boost for Majuli’s residents, encouraging homestays and local craft sales.
